第37回：「２００２年成立大学関係米国特許」


　前回、韓国、台湾などの大学関係特許を調査すると予告していましたが、実際
に見てみると想像していたほど件数が多くないことが分かりました。そこで、今
回は、２００２年に成立した大学関係の米国特許を見ていきたいと思います。
　なお、調査の都合上、今回の集計には工科大学は含まれていません。

　検索式は、assignee名にUniversityを含む、２００２年成立の米国特許としています。件数の多い大学からみていきます。

The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University 78
Board of Regents The University of Texas System 75
The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York 45
The Johns Hopkins University 44
Duke University 42
University of Washington 42
Regents of the University of Minnesota 41
The Regents of the University of Michigan 41
The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania 40
という具合に、カリフォルニア州立大学が圧倒的に多いようです。
１年で４００件以上のいうのは、「民間企業真っ青」と言えます。

　さて、これらの大学特許を具体的に見ていくまえに、権利者名が気になりました。日本の大学ですら、学長名特許と大学名特許がありました。
そこで、今回の集計データをエクセルに取り込んでエクセルのオートフィルター機能を使って、大学の名称について集計してみました。行ったのは上記中のTOP3の大学です。

という具合に、大学名の表現が色々ある上に、スペルミスもあります。大学関係の米国特許を調査するときは、このあたりも要注意と思われます。

　ちょっと脱線してしまいました。上記の３大学について２００２年成立特許を具体的に見ていきたいと思います。

●カリフォルニア大学

MEMSを応用したマイクロミラーの制御に関する特許です。

Title:Polycrystalline silicon-germanium films for micro-electromechanical
systems application.
MEMS向けのシリコンゲルマニウム多結晶薄膜に関する特許です。

Number(Issue):6,454,759( September 24, 2002 )
Title:Microfabricated injectable drug delivery system.
MEMS応用のDDSです。

今回はMEMS関係を特にピックアップしましたが、バイオ関係の特許も多く見られます。


●スタンフォード大学

MEMS応用超音波トランスデューサ

の他、バイオ関連も多いです。


●テキサス大学
　意図的にMEMS関係をピックアップしようとしたのですが、バイオや医療関係の特許がほとんどでした。

6,355,619 Peptide tumor cell growth inhibitors.
6,358,737 Osteocyte cell lines.
6,375,930 Membrane incorporation of texaphyrins.
6,395,712 Sensitization of HER-2/neu overexpressing cancer cells to
chemotherapy.

米国の大学はバイオ（医療）特許で稼ごうとしているという話を実感します。
